This month could be summarised as « G2E » and « Compliance »; since lots of announcements have been made in multiple markets, as in NL,UK & France concerning a potential rise in taxes. We’re also entering in the Q3 results period with FDJ’s, Entain’s ones, but most will be published early November (for instance Better Collective).

SPORTS BETTING OPERATORS

  1. TextBet has been fined AU$33.000 for having targeted a customer who asked to close their account and stop receiving marketing comms.
  2. Bet365 :
    • opens its US headquarter in Denver and would benefit a Tax credit upon the amount of jobs created. The Operator aims to hire 1000 persons, sign of its will to conquer the US Market.
    • The bookie also launched officially in Peru with a dedicated website and the app. Peruvian will have access to the full sports betting experience but also casino games, live casino actions and poker.
  3. Sporttrade has secured a strategic investment from SIGSports to enhance its offerings and expand across the U.S. The funds will support customer acquisition, expansion into new states, and platform development. Currently, Sporttrade operates in New Jersey, Colorado, Iowa, and Arizona, with plans to expand to Virginia and other states soon.
  4. Betfred officially closed operations in Virginia on October 21st. Right after having stopped operations in Arizona (September 20th) and Maryland, the operator is still live in six states. But for how long ?
  5. Vai de Bet, Zeroumbet & Esportes da sorte have been excluded from the Operator list authorized to pursue their business in Brazil until January 2025, opening date of the regulated market. They’re accused of illegal gambling and money laundering in Brazil.
  6. 10Bet is going to add Beter’s proprietary ESportsBattle tournaments in its offering. It will start with eFootball and eBasketball first and could add Starcraft 2 and eHockey later.
  7. BetMGM enters the swedish market following successful UK and NL launches. Swedish players will have access to exclusive features including live-streamed casino games, live casino and sportsbook.
  8. Sportsbet.io became an official regional partner of LaLiga.
  9. NetX Betting got a fine of 675K€ for running unlicensed online gambling in NL on two separate websites (pferdewetten.de and betbird.com)
  10. KSA imposed a €280.000 weekly penalty on Winbet for operating in the market without a local licence.
  11. EasyJet launched EasyBet in the UK and probably in multiples countries. The bookie is built in partnership with Matchbook

CASINOS OPERATORS

  1. Goldwin have been suspended by Malta Gaming Authority because of lack of compliance, effective since September 25.
  2. MGM : investments analysts remain confident on a share value increase, mainly because of the Operator’s expansion strategy (Osaka, Abu Dhabi) and their intentions to secure a casino license in New York.
  3. Wynn Resorts granted the very first UAE’s gambling operator license. The operator is developing the Wynn Al Marjan Island, the first integrated gaming resort in the Middle East (ETA: 2027) after a $4 Billion investments
  4. The Star Sydney will maintain its casino license despite a new fine and imposed rules. The casino is fined AU$ 15 Million, because of compliance issues.
  5. EEZE launches live casino offering in Lithuania with 7Bet
  6. Inspired Entertainment extends its partnership with Bet365 in Mexico, allowing players to access the slot title Sticky Stacked Fire 7s, a first debut for the provider in LatAm market, another translation of LatAm expansion.
  7. Caesars annonces that its Online Casino business will soon represent 50% of the company revenues, and 50% in sports betting. Caesars only have Casinos in 4 states, but Sports betting in 26.

LOTTERY, BINGO, SLOTS & FANTASY

  1. Draftking closes its UK fantasy sports business in UK, to « optimise its business », with immediate effect as of Friday october 4th.
  2. LottoGo launches in South Africa with LottoGo.co.za and is looking for affiliates and partnership to reach new players in this market.
  3. FDJ implements UiPath automation for retailer registration. That’s supposed to save 250 workdays annually in process’ optimization for around 6000 retailers each year.

Suppliers News

  1. BetConstruct moves forward with BlockChain Technologies. Announced during SBC Lisbon, the platform serves as an NFT Marketplace, allowing users to estimate the outcomes of its collection. A transaction fee of 2.5% applies.
  2. Sportradar enhances its ad:s service with a « Paid Search Intelligence » feature. Sportradar announces the full coverage of ad:s for all core disciplines related to iGaming. Clients can build dynamic landing pages based on real-time odds, jackpots & event results. This feature ensure that operators meets customers interests by answering SEO challenges. Results for this feature ? In the beta test, it has demonstrated a uplift of 30% in customer registrations and over 40% increase in FTD.
  3. GiG begins new Stockholm listing… as a full B2B technology group, right after having splitted its media activity with the launch of Gentoo Media. Behind the name of « GiG Software PLC » hides CoreX, Sportsbook SportX and SweepX (NA focused social casino).
  4. RubyPlays get ready to enter Brazilian Market and already complies to the regulations
  5. PlayTech saw a 200% revenue increase in North America, driven by new partnerships and market expansions, especially in Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Its B2B revenue surged over 230%, with collaborations with major players like DraftKings and BetMGM. Playtech also expanded its live casino services through a partnership with MGM Resorts, contributing to a 17% growth in regulated markets. Despite significant growth, the company’s U.S. operations remain unprofitable due to heavy investments. Playtech is also eyeing potential growth in Latin America.
  6. RelaxGaming, the iGaming aggregator and supplier of unique content partners with Pointsbet, leading Canadian Operator. Pointsbet will integrate RelaxGaming’s slots content.
  7. OKTO has partnered with Sazka, the Czech Republic’s oldest lottery company, to introduce its digital payment solutions to the Czech market. Through this partnership, OKTO.CASH is now available across Sazka’s network of over 6,700 points of sale, allowing consumers to top up their iGaming accounts with cash in real-time. This expansion into the Czech Republic follows successful integrations in other European countries. Both OKTO and Sazka emphasized the collaboration’s focus on enhancing customer experience and providing a secure, convenient payment solution for the gaming industry.
  8. GR8 Tech released a Geo Extension, introducing those new key features: filters for registration country, player currency, verification status, and device type, enabling personalized payment experiences. These improvements aim to boost payment conversion rates and overall gross gaming revenue (GGR). Additionally, the extension enhances anti-fraud capabilities and offers an easy-to-use tool for managing payment methods and user experience, increasing acceptance rates and player engagement.
  9. WorldMatch, the leading online gaming solutions provider, has formed a strategic partnership with KGI, marking its first direct entry into the Philippine gaming market, a crucial move in a fast & emerging market. WorldMatch has also secured certification from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), ensuring its products meet local regulatory standards.
  10. Yggdrasil enters Bielorussian market thanks to a partnership with Fonbet, scaling the use of its well-known franchise Vikings Go Berzerk & Raptor DoubleMax. Leading the market in Bielorussian Fonbet hopes to enhance its market share thanks to those new games.

General News

  1. Affter persists in its restricted access model, said Maxim Makovetskyi during SBC Lisbon. It’s supposed to allow Affiliates Manager to be more efficient with a restricted portfolio. 30% of applicants are approved. Affter is also working on AI opportunities to help Support Team operations.
  2. Gentoo Media added another year to its partnership with Betsson Group Affiliates for the use of GiG Comply solution. It’s the fifth year that BGA uses GiG Comply to comply and protect its brand.
  3. FairPlay Sports Media has launched Oddschecker+, a subscription service offering AI-powered analysis to US bettors. Subscribers gain access to odds from major US sportsbooks, covering leagues like the NFL, MLB, WNBA, and college football. The service provides tools such as Public Betting Splits, allowing users to see betting trends and money positions on sporting events. Oddschecker+ aims to level the playing field by offering data-driven insights, including Positive Value Bets, to help users find better betting opportunities.
  4. QiH Group welcomed its first ever CTO, sign of a will to structure and improve its tech stack. He was working previously at Dealogic, Rocket Lawyer and Congenica more recently, in the health tech.
  5. Acroud postponed an interest payment of €19.8M in order to get more time to restore its financial health. The affiliate knew a decline in revenue (-8% to €9.5M in Q2)
  6. The founder of Comparasino discusses wagering requirements in the online casino industry and advocates for the use of bonuses. He highlights that many players do not fully understand wagering requirements and feel frustrated when they cannot access their bonus.
  7. Alyona Bursak from LalaStars emphasizes the importance of AI for automating tasks and personalizing marketing, while Google updates highlight the need for creative, high-quality content. Affiliates must diversify traffic sources and collaborate closely with operators to adapt to market changes. Choosing reliable operators (in order to avoid unpaid FTDs…) and leveraging AI-driven insights are essential for affiliates to succeed in the evolving igaming industry.

Interviews

  1. iGaming Express discussed with Jordan Gnat, on the recent Playmaker’s acquisition. And why it was a great addition to the BC’s portfolio, since Playmaker was strong in Latin America, region BC was aiming strongly.
  2. Bojoko’s CEO tackles the way it helps Operators to reach new FTDs for Canadian casinos operators. He mentions that the value proposition that casino operators must highlight isn’t all about bonuses, but also « convenience » such as payment methods, minimum deposits amounts & fast payouts.
  3. Alina Famenok, CEO of Already Media, highlights that India’s iGaming market is more complex than commonly perceived. While cricket dominates, there’s growing interest in other sports like football and kabbadi, and even casino and skill games. Although the IPL season sees traffic spikes, focusing solely on it can harm long-term acquisition, as IPL users tend to churn after the season. Player values are rising, with CPAs increasing as India’s economy strengthens. Localizing for the Indian market, especially in its many languages, is key, and while competition is tough, there’s still significant opportunity for growth, since India counts more than 970Millions adults and a rising middle class.
  4. Tadas Peckaitis, owner of iBetMedia comes back on the GCUs, and how they saved their assets, by focusing on getting direct traffic. They developped 3 products:
    • Poker hand replayer – where players can easily submit and share the hands that they played
    • Odds calculator – a tool to check mathematical chances of winning in any given situation
    • Preflop charts app –  a collection of poker ranges showing what hands to play

Company Results

Affiliates

  1. Catena Media published two Press Releases. One concerning the Interim Report Q3; total revenues could be up to $11M. The second one is announcing their strategic shit to a product-led business. That cuts 29 jobs and is supposed to savec $2M annually.
  2. Better Collective lowers its 2024 growth expectations, amid U.S market Slowdown. Initially, the leading affiliate was projecting 395 – 425M€ in revenues and an EBITDA before special items of 130-140M€. The forecasts projects now 355-375M€ in revenues and 100-110M€ in EBITDA BSI. It looks like the US Market is hitting every affiliates, even leaders. The company also reported a decline in Brazilian market. As a result, Better Collective is running a business optimization process, with the aim to save 50M€ annually.
  3. Gentoo Media published its Q3 results. Revenues reached 30.4M€ and an Ebitda margin around 46/48%. For the FY2024, the company anticipates revenues between 125-135M€ and 45/50% EBITDA Margin. Full details will be disclosed during official release on November 13.
  4. Already Media published some metrics on the affiliate Q3 2024, with a total of 341 000 FTDs mainly from Asia (290.000), LatAm (32 000)

Operators & Providers

  1. Entain’s revenues up by 8% in Q3 and Group EBITDA now expected to be towards the top of the £1,040m-£1,090m guidance range.
  2. Kindred reported total group revenue of £294.5m (€352.2m/$382.3m) in Q3 across all markets and verticals, up by 3.7% from Q3 2023.
  3. FDJ reported significant growth with GGR up by 12.3% to 1.99bn€. This growth isn’t only driven by online since points-of-sale revenues rose by 3% in France and 9% in Ireland.
  4. Evolution has posted a 28% increase in total revenue to 579M€ for the third quarter of 2024. Quarterly profit rose 20% to 328.6M€.
  5. Betsson Group increased by 18% to 280.1M€ in the third quarter of 2024 (+51% YoY). Once again, this growth is led by Casino (209.9M€) but sportsbook is also rising (+7.8% – 68.3M€)
  6. Boyd Gaming published its Q3 2024 revenues, up by 6.4% to $961.2M (903M in Q3 2023)

  • Online Gambling Quarterly Fall Edition went live.This edition focus LatAm and US. Among the learnings, we can read that Playtech is the Share Dev winner with +58% in Q3 2024. According to the Survey, 74% of the revenues are coming from Mobile. Among the Operator with the highest potential in the US, Fanduel, Bet365 & Draftkings are leading the way. In LatAm, we also see Bet365, with Betano & Betnacional. For experts, trends are the following:
iGaming Trends US LATAM
  • Caixa is preparing to launch its own Bet by April 2025 in Brazil. The public bank decided it will enter the market after the completion of regulations. Caixa created a subsidiary called « Caixa Loterias » that applied to the Ministry of Finance for authorization. It will manage lotteries and the traditional Mega-Sena bets. Regarding the betting market, Caixa Lotterias will hold a bidding process to choose the partner who will own the tech aspects.
  • Genius Sports appoints a new CTO, former Google Executive. His background is built on AI, and aligns perfectly with the aim of Genius Sports to launch GeniusIQ, a platform leveraging Machine Learning and Gen AI to deliver next level game analysis. They also welcomed a former Microsoft executive, the former Xbox Officer Robbie Bach into Genius’ Board of directors.
  • Britain’s Gambling Commission has appointed two Dr to its Advisory Board for Safer Gambling. The institutions aims to strengthen its team by research insights into working harm prevention policies.
  • Tourism experts in South Korea are urging the creation of a regulatory body to oversee the gambling industry, particularly integrated resorts with casinos, to promote sustainable growth. During a panel discussion at The Korea Times Global Business Club, scholars and industry leaders emphasized the need for regulation to address public concerns about gambling, prevent addiction, and curb the rise of illegal gambling, especially online. They suggested modeling the regulatory framework after Singapore’s Gambling Regulatory Authority.
  • Ireland: Ireland’s Dáil is discussing the Gambling Regulation Bill (GRB), which seeks to modernize gambling laws by introducing mandatory licensing for all gambling services. The bill includes strict penalties for unlicensed operators and aims to combat gambling-related criminality like money laundering. It also focuses on public health, creating a Social Impact Fund to address gambling addiction. Advertising rules are still under debate, with Minister James Browne opposing a full ban, instead advocating for a 9pm watershed and stricter online ad protections.
  • Nordic Gambling Monopolies won’t last. Sweden and Denmark’s gambling trade body chiefs Gustaf Hoffstedt (BOS) and Morten Ronde (Spillebranchen) expect the states monopolies to come to an end and being sold to the private sector. In Denmark and Sweden the Danske Spil and Sveska Spel monopoly operators have exclusivity over lottery and horse racing betting. In Finland, the market is slowly (but surely) killing the monopoly, since Veikkaus lost 40% of their GGR. Finish Government aims to launch its regulated market in January 2026.
  • The Dutch gambling regulator (KSA) estimates that the channelization rate, or the proportion of players using legal gambling sites, is 95%, largely due to strict advertising rules. However, player spending data suggests this figure may be closer to 87%, as more is being spent on illegal sites. The market saw a 21.2% growth in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in 2023, reaching €4 billion, with a significant increase in online casino revenues.
  • Pete Miles of Optimove explores how US lotteries can stand out in a competitive entertainment market. He suggests lotteries must transition from traditional models to tech-driven, personalized experiences, citing European lotteries as successful examples. By leveraging data and personalizing interactions, lotteries can appeal to modern, digital-first players. Personalization, instant gratification, gamification, and loyalty programs are key strategies to boost engagement. Ultimately, adopting these innovations will help US lotteries remain competitive against other entertainment options like streaming and online gaming.
  • However, online betting has overtaken casinos, with betting operators generating more revenue than physical casinos. By 2023, betting (mainly online) accounted for 60% of the market, double the size of casinos.
  • In South Africa, the online betting market is valued at around R26 billion, growing at a rate of 40-50% annually. Leading companies such as Hollywoodbets, Betway, and LottoStar dominate the market. While traditional casinos remain profitable, operators like Sun International are shifting focus to online platforms, where growth potential remains high, particularly in online slots and live casino games.
  • Michigan’s Online Casinos have the second-best month ever in september with $202.6M. That’s 38.1M in taxes for the states and $9.3M for the city of Detroit. This is BetMGM that leads the market there, followed by FanDuel and Draftkings.
  • Iden tackles the canibalization topic regarding iCasino and land-based Casinos, arguing that’s two different experiences. Studies shown that land-based operators are benefiting from a legalized iCasino regulation.
  • Digital Indian Foundation released a report regarding the AML measures. They estimate a 90 millions of players in the country but they call for a better KYC process to protect players.
  • The Brazilian Association of Credit Cards and Services Companies (ABECS) expressed concerns about the use of credit lines in betting and the growing use of Pix in these payments. The Brazilian Central bank made it clear: this is not a banking topic; and banning Pix is not on the agenda for now.

M&A Moves

  1. WA.Technology acquired Onseo. It adds to the provider new ressources for sports betting, games development. WA strengthen its product line (WA.Platform, WA.Sports, WA.Casino, WA.Affiliates, WA.Lottery & WA.Fantasy) with the arrival of the Onseo team (700 developpers). Amount not disclosed.
  2. FDJ completed its acquisition of Kindred Group, started on January 2024. The acquisition allows FDJ to enter new markets, including the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Belgium.
  3. GRV Media acquired NFLanalysis.net & NBAanalysis.net to reinforce its presence in the US Market. The amount isn’t disclosed but lead the company to more than 100 headcounts. The Affiliate is strongly represented in Europe with more than 40 assets, right after having launched their Fantasy website in the UK in september.
  4. Revpanda is looking for affiliates website to acquire (only if they’re making more than 50 FTDs per month).
  5. XLMedia sold its NA assets to Sportradar for a total amount of $30M. The affiliate already sold its european assets to GDC earlier this year. Right after this deal, XLMedia will become a cash shell
  6. Good Engine confirmed that it acquired Little Star Media. The amount was not disclosed. Little Star Media runs multiples assets (listed in our Affiliates Cockpit – subscribers only). Good Engine introduces itself as a Product Venture Studio, and the first one called « itsagoodchoice.com » browse iGaming T&C’s to define if operators are a real good choice. This deal will allow Good Engine to reach new users with Little Star Media’s assets.
  7. CherryAB could be willing to sell ComeOn Group (the company is valuated at 500M, 8x EBITDA). The operator have been seriously hit by the regulations in its nordic market. ComeOn Group operates 15 brands and got licensed for Netherlands in 2022.
  8. Glitnor Group is about to acquire OneCasino, which is active in NL, Denmark and Spain and aims Germany.

Marketing

  1. Martin Calvert and Chris Mawson return to find out what bettors are searching in newest regulated markets. Once the market is regulated, the queries are more related to transactional-intent such as bonuses, odds and withdrawal methods.
  2. Daniel Brookes get back on Customer Loyalty and the fact that customer service isn’t always perceived as a top priority. But it could be a good differentiation factor in a market where acquisition costs are very high.

Regulatory Updates & Whispers

🇺🇸

USA

Maine Gambling Control Unit issued a Notice of Rulemaking for casino gaming regulations, with a deadline for submitting comments set for October 5, 2024. The proposed amendments cover various aspects of casino operations, including facility-based monitoring, technical requirements for slot machines, jackpot criteria, cashier cages, count procedures, chips, table and poker games, ticket redemption processes, and the transportation, testing, and certification of slot machines.

California Tribes leaders are seeking a path for sports betting in 2026 or 2028. A previous measure was supposed to go live in 2024 but Tribes opposed, because of an unfair deal by operators.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has signed legislation to enforce responsible gambling messaging. This new legislation mandates that all gambling ads, including those for online sports betting, must include warnings about the potential dangers of gambling addiction. The law also directs the New York State Gaming Commission to collaborate with the Commissioner of Addiction Services to ensure all ads provide a gambling hotline number.

Minnesota is considering mobile sports betting. Joe Bertolone reaffirmed during a panel.

Netherlands

On October 1, 2024, new regulations on player deposit limits and advertising restrictions come into effect in the Netherlands. Key changes include monthly deposit caps of €350 for players aged 24 and over, and €150 for those aged 18 to 24. Players with higher personal limits will see regular pop-up reminders until they adjust them. Operators must notify players of their personal limits at every login, logout, and when 50% of their loss limit is reached. Players will be automatically logged out upon reaching their loss or time limits. Additionally, all visual and auditory advertising, including bonus offers, is banned, except for essential profile-related notifications.

Canada

In an Oct. 2 Senate Committee meeting on Bill S-269, witnesses discussed Canada’s efforts to regulate sports betting ads. While there was debate over the need for a national framework, consensus emerged that more research is needed to improve player protection.

Alberta : The office of Alberta’s Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction Dale Nally has confirmed that a proposed regulated iGaming market will launch later than originally anticipated. Initially planned for early 2025, the schedule is now delayed without any deadline.

Denmark

Denmark launch Providers License as of beginning of 2025. Initially, only operators were supposed to apply for licensing. Risks are multiples for providers; first, the compliance one of course, but that’s also a time-to-market issue; since they could be asked their new games/products to be reviewed before launch; meaning a loss in user experience for the end customer.

Brazil

  1. Lula jump in the advertising restriction. He will announces measures focused on bettors’ mental health, such as not mentioning that bettors could become richer thanks to betting, but also banning the use of credit cards and Bolsa Familia Cards. As a reminder, as of Tuesday 1st of October, iGaming companies that have not requested authorization to operate in Brazil will have to cease their activities. That’s about 500 companies. Lula also said that he wouldn’t hesitate to ban iGaming if the regulation isn’t working on addicts. 2025 will be very interesting to follow.
  2. More than 90 operators will be permitted to offer their products by the end of December 2024. Bet365, Betano, Betway, Betsson, Entain, Flutter, LeoVegas & SuperBet (full list have been published here ) are among the selected ones. Every other operators must have ceased their activity on Brazilian Market on October 1st. Anatel is expected to block those website by October 11th. That doesn’t mean, still, that those 89 are making the definitive list; they will be required to pay $5.5M by January.
  3. Brazil’s minister of finance’s Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA) warned that sites not on its list will face blocking actions. Anatel received 2040 suspicious domains in order to block them.
  4. The 96 whitelisted online betting companies might submit legal justification for any bonuses offered to players.

Australia

As of September 29, 2024, online gambling operators in Australia must complete customer identification procedures (ACIP) before allowing players to gamble. This process is something very known in banking and this ensures This ensures compliance with Australia’s enhanced anti-money laundering and customer protection laws.

Australia’s Green Party has proposed a bill to ban all forms of gambling advertising, including TV, radio, and online ads, which would significantly impact affiliates in the gambling industry. The bill, led by Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, is part of ongoing political debates about regulating gambling to reduce harm. A ban could limit affiliates’ ability to acquire customers, but strategies like content marketing, responsible gambling advocacy, and multimedia engagement could help them adapt. The industry awaits further developments as the bill progresses through the Senate.

UK

Rachel Reeves will set out the Labour Government’s fiscal plans on October 30. The gambling industry could be impacted; the IPPR suggested doubling the 15% general betting duty & The Social Market Foundation says increasing remote gaming duty from 21 per cent to 42 per cent could be one way to sustainably improve the gambling industry’s tax contribution.

France

France’s economy not going that good could probably lead to a rise in gambling taxes. Stakeholders are already taxed at around 55% of their GGR but they could see a rise up to 60%.

An amendment introduced over the weekend of Friday 18th October gives hope for online casino regulation in France. It could be part of French Government plans to raise revenues to address the country’s debt. The document states that the purpose of the amendment is to open the online casino market to competition. But the reluctancies from some land-based operators made the government step back, and they organize a consultation in 2025 regarding the potential legalization.

Italy

AGCOM to impose Italian adult checks on gambling content. Every content aiming adults (such as iGaming) would be required to verify user’s age.

On top of that, Malta calls for a mutual recognition of licenses, instead of Italian government to push for their own regulation. Also, operators seeking nine-year licenses will face a substantial fee increase, with costs rising from €200,000 to €7 million, and what could be seen as a limit for new entries in the market isn’t perceived like this by government, saying Approximately 50 operators are expected to enter the market.

As another regulation Operators will be required to base their IT infrastructure, including cloud services, within the European Economic Area

Initially set for 2027, the launch of Finland Online Gambling Regulations could be live earlier. This regulations would allow Horseracing betting. The bill already received criticisms from the industry, specifically in advertising and marketing matters. Before the law moves to European Commission, it requires a cross-party approval.

It is still not decided that horseracing betting would be a state monopoly or open to the private sector.

Ireland

Minister of state at the Department of Justice has welcomed the successful passage of the Gambling Regulation Bill 2022. In short, this bill include:

  • Creation of the National Gambling Exclusion file
  • New Regulations on gambling advertising (such as prohibited hours from 5:30am to 9pm)
  • Establishment of a Social Impact Fund
  • Measures against black market operators
  • Sentences against unlicensed operators.
  • Prescribtion by the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) of times, place and events where advertising is authorized.

Bulgaria

New gambling regulations in Bulgaria, introduced in May 2024, have sharply restricted advertising for the industry, contributing to a significant revenue drop for licensed operators. Major operators are considering leaving the Bulgarian market due to stringent advertising bans on TV, radio, and online media, coupled with strict location requirements for gambling venues and increased licensing costs. Although some adjustments may ease online advertising restrictions, major firms like Bwin may exit, seeking more favorable regulatory environments abroad.
